Not sure if you mean the original TV series that started in 1987 and lasted regrettably only 6 or 7 years thereafter or the entire franchise as a whole. I'd like to think it applies to all things Knightmare and Tim Child's idea and production to make it a reality that continues to this day. It's such a shame the series not only didn't survive beyond the early / mid 1990's and that a DVD collection release never seemed obtainable. We've had spin offs and online parodies that while fun and offer a certain intrigue, just can't match the enthralment or experience of the original series. Maybe it's down to age perspective as things just aren't the same as you remember them but for what's it worth I take the opportunity to offer and provide all things Knightmare a sincere anniversary mention. Surely there's an event planned for next year to mark the 40 year turning. Hugo Myatt and all surviving cast members hopefully get together and provide something like a fan access day. It sounds plausible but not sure how far they'll actually get with it.

You see '37 years ago' and it halts you in your tracks. It's wild that can be possible. Thinking back to those times; seeing the community that still survives all this time later, and learning that all those special memories of care-free childhood, glued to the TV watching the latest Dungeoneer taking on the dungeon; and you realise all those memories aren't just your own. Many, many others up and down the country have the same memories. Cheers to Knightmare; to Tim, Hugo and indeed every single person involved in the show, in front of and behind the camera. I said to Hugo today when I met him at Fan X Live that Knightmare is one of a kind. There was nothing else like it at the time, and there's been nothing quite like it since, either.

I've got three of the four CYOA books and am now seriously thinking I should order the fourth one. Money's something of a thin resource for me just at the moment but this shouldn't be to much of a cost once I've got a couple of clients in. I think I'll buy the remaining book as a reward to myself when I get those. But yes, the Sorcerer's Isle was a fantastic story. Well, all of them were, but I especially remember TSI for two things: firstly, the beautiful description of... now I'm wondering where it was, but there was something about a "light and fragrant breeze" at the beginning which makes it sound like Treguard was living somewhere warm and balmy. I'm sure it was this book, though. I've since used similar descriptions when people have commissioned me to write stories. The other bit I particularly vividly remember of this book was how the leader of the Bedouin takes Treguard's sword. I honestly felt sick for Treguard being bound to hand it over. I always found it curious that we didn't hear anything about Rupert anywhere in the Knightmare TV series. That said, Lord Fear was probably a better option as he offered a mechanic with far more potential.

You only get out what you put in to be honest. As a long standing (dis)respectable community member I can say that with feeling. You have to either make things happen or participate when opportunities arise - take a look at the Midhunt Hunt games we've tested across the country - they don't appear overnight and take considerable planning but if not enough volunteers come forward then the results aren't tarnished but are certainly diminished. If you can't directly participate thats fine but not even bothering to respond seems to be prevalent all too much these days. There are other easier ways to get involved tho - you can review episodes, characters and even submit articles for us all to share. That said I'm glad to have participated in a variety of ways over the years and count some people I've met in this time doing so as very important to me indeed. Knightmare and it's legacy will not be forgotten but its' flame can only be kept alive by actions and words...here's to another 30 everyone.
