Thanks for sharing. It's good to see that Epic Studios is still around and also hosting events on most evenings.

As for Dominik Diamond, I'll be going to see his show "Dominik Diamond Sings The Video Games" in London later this month and am really looking forward to it. He's since announced follow-up shows in Bury and Blackpool next month, so hopefully it won't be too long before he's back in Norwich...

I thought Hatfilms did a really good homage as well over the course of their three episodes.

Here's hoping they may do some more KM tributes in the near future.

Thanks for directing us to this David.

This is brilliant and highly recommended. Great scenes and whilst amusing in places, it wasn't overly reliant on humour. The dungeon backgrounds are superbly designed as well.

Tonight whilst visiting some old web pages from the past, one of them led to a 404 error. Upon encountering that error, this is a screenshot of the page I was greeted with:

    Newbie Welcome

Hello browntownlad, good to hear from you.

I did a documentary about Knightmare some years ago, you can check it out via the link in my signature.

I'm also a huge gamebook fan, especially Fighting Fantasy and Dave Morris's Knightmare books. In fact, last year I wrote and released my debut gamebook Quadportal which comprises of four short adventures each comprising 100 sections and am in the process of putting together my follow-up gamebook The Castle Of Condemnation which has some very strong Knightmare influences. This has already been written and is currently in the process of getting some artwork done for it.

Please do feel free to check them out if you're interested.

I was absolutely devastated when I first read about this last week and felt that I should write something in response.

Tom was an absolute gentleman and a genuinely friendly person to speak to when I interviewed him for my 25th Anniversary Documentary. He was absolutely delighted when I invited him to take part in the documentary and his communication with myself was wholly uplifting and positive both before and after filming his interview.

I recall his relaxed approch to how I interviewed him, suggesting i should just roll the camera in case he happened to come up with any useful pieces with information. What followed was a 30 minute video discussion of me and him talking, where I also got to put forward my questions as well as those submitted by members of this forum at the time.

It was also Tom who also got me in contact with Tim Child in regards to the documentary, so the former definitely deserves additional credit for the part he played here as well.

Thanks for sharing the link to Tom's tribute page Annie - I'll make a donation as well as light a candle very soon.

    Reminds me of Knightmare

Today I visited a shop in East London called "Knightmarez".

It is a furniture shop and one guy who worked there seemed quite amused as he saw me take my photo of the shop's exterior. I went inside the shop and told him about the TV show of the almost similar sounding name, and he said that he remembers it, where the kid wore a helmet and walked around blindfolded through the dungeon. Though he didn't actually say if the shop's name was genuinely inspired by the programme we all know and love...

Photo I took of the shop is below and if you're so inclined, you can also have a look at their website.

Almost impossible to believe that it's been 20 years since this version of the forum came into existence... and really pleased to see that it's still going strong. I remember when us forum members were celebrating 20 years since Knightmare came on to our screens!

I echo the comments of the sterling work that Drassil has done in ensuring the KM forum is always a worthwhile place to keep checking back to every now and again; thanks as always, it really is appreciated. And of course it's been a pleasure to be part of this community myself.

New members are welcome, as are returning members however long they've been away. I hope we see plenty of both this year.

Who knows? Let's hope so (keeps fingers crossed). Nothing wrong with trying to persuade social media's army of Knightmare to relive the good old days of posting on a forum.

  • Dave Morris interview for International Gamebook Day
    JamesAJ JamesA
    General Discussion

During the weekend just gone, author of the Knightmare books Dave Morris recently gave a interview as part of International Gamebook Day where he talks about this and his other works such as Fabled Lands, Blood Sword, Dragon Warriors and Virtual Reality Adventures.

The full interview can be found here:

    https://youtu.be/QqXiAmMmi5Y

However - should you wish to just skip to the parts where the Knightmare books are discussed, these can found at 25:19 and 43:13 (the latter focuses on the change in format of the last book, Lord Fear's Domain).

    Reminds me of Knightmare

I recently watched the first episode of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace.

In the introductory sequence, Marenghi says the legendary Brother Strange quote "Greetings Traveller" as well as give a nod to "The Powers That Be".

Elsewhere in the episode, you can see certain scenes that were clearly shot against a blue screen, akin to Knightmare itself.

Really enjoyed the new episode with Iona and Mark, even if the latter's appearance was maybe a tad brief.

I informed Mr Knight himself about the episode, to which his response was "I'll check it out!". Hopefully he also enjoyed revisiting some memories from back in the day.

    Thanks for sharing Drassil.

I've only just come across this, and it's great to see the website relaunched as a tribute to the legacy he left behind.

Having met him in person, I feel that the words of his kind and giving nature on the site are all fully justified too.

  • BUT spell

    Series 4

As for the TRANSFORMATION spell, already mentioned elsewhere in this thread but I agree that it would have been used to reverse the effects of a poison bottle later on in the level (as it eventually would do in Dickon's quest).

Forgot to add that in Dickon's quest, the spell used to transform the poison into a life force restorer was as we all indeed know, OPPOSITE (for some reason I can't edit my above post, hence this addition).
