Nope, no Life Force death sequence on this one, for the first time ever. As Km deaths go, this one is one of the strangest and most unique, imo.

Wow... that was certainly... interesting. The room just went all color-y and stuff...

What was that symbol on the floor for, anyway?

I don't think the symbol meant anything.

Interestingly, when Julian traversed the room later in the season, his team-mates carefully guided him AROUND the symbol on the floor. They obviously thought it was a hole in the ground or something.

Indeed. I guess you can't be too careful in the Dungeon, though!

It certainly did not look like something you should stand on! Looks a bit like a scorpion to me, hard to tell, but I doubt if it would have caused any damage in the long run.

The last appearence of the Medusa was Leo's quest Series 3, wasn't it?

                  Yes, I think so!

Slightly different title graphic and image transition at the beginning.

I liked how the dungeoneer almost fell on Folly when going down the wellway!

The Mills of Doom scene started rather abruptly. Was something edited?

I wonder if the WEB spell was added in later because they didn't get the password for Cedric earlier?

Picking up the Destructor talisman just caused Treguard to say that the life force was being drained. Not as dramatic as in the next series when the whole room flashed colours when they picked up the destructor!

Mogdred's evil laugh is still scary, even in 2004! And it looks like the dungeoneer has trouble lifting the 'spoon' (it's actually a shovel)

The dungeoneer was actually asked to help blow up a wall for the gold miner!

Look carefully in the 'ledge' room and you'll see Mogdred faintly before the lighting director decides to turn the light on

The sound effect used for Mogdred's hand is the same as used for Ariadne appearing. Notice in the first Level 3 room, the skeletons jump up and then abruptly go back to being on the floor again, with no animation! Nearly ht by the cavernwights!

You can see through Merlin when he appears!

There was no way the team could have known to take the magic shield to get past the Medusa - no clues or anything! Turned to stone! Ooh, Nasty! The only team to not have been DISMISSed by Treguard.

(Couldn't quite get the animation looping right)

Edit: Changed pic to a link at Illusion's request

There were some good moments in this episode, which featured the first appearances of Mogdred and Bumptious. Some very knice CGI in the Mills of Doom, especially for 1988, and I noticed Cedric reacted to the web appearing about 3 seconds before it appeared! Good to see what lurks behind the wall of Jericho, after the final Series 1 team died without being able to open it, and I thought the way the Gargoyle's mouth actually mouthed the word 'Doom' instead of just staying still was very impressive. The team's death in the Medusa room was odd compared to other deaths, yet still a good one!

Treguard thinking, now I hope they don't sue me for being turned to stone. I suppose he had to use some heavy magic in order to remove the stone team from the anti-chamber. Aren't they too young to be getting stoned? OK I'll leave the bad jokes at that.

Hopefully it will be repeated at 5am, as I didn't have access to my parents NTL box - something to do with a football match.

A seminal episode, imo. Mogdred is introduced, along with Bumptious, the Mills of Doom and the Destructor. Also, this team's demise is perhaps the most unusual in the whole history of the show.

Slight mistake: In one scene, you could see Mogdred before he was fully faded in for his 'puppet' speech.

Makes you wonder why Mogdred was so eager to kill this team off, Tried to get them with the destructor, not sure what his puppet spell was Mont, and tried to grab them.. (Now thats were Fear gets it from)

This episode was full of action, mind they they had an easy ride in level 2, level 1 was far better.. and level 2 looked as good as ever,

I liked how when the dungeoneer picked up the destructor and then dropped it again, the middle advisor looked at Treguard as if to say "You could of warned us it was going to do that."

The cavernwights are kind of cuddly in their own moth-eaten way......

I did think the destructor was a bit unfair. "Hey team, look at the clue objects... Oh no, one's a destructor! It doesn't look destructive in the slightest, but have life-force damage anyway!"

Personally I think it was meant to get things moving a bit faster, but still, random clue objects don't tend to damage life-force.

This explains why the series 3 team were so cautious over it. I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

But- oh no! They only took one clue object, I think! Now who would be silly enough to do that? Oh, hang on...

Shame really, they were a good team.

I agree at last, incidentally- series 2 is much more pacey than some later series. No confusing 'sight' potions here, oh no...

About time we saw Mogdred. He's a happy chap, isn't he? He laughs more than Folly. Speaking of which, knice to have the closing end credits without manic laughter.

Treguard got quite animated (again!) when telling the dungeoneer to blow the horn..."Again! Again!"

If you're talking about the Level 3 clue room, they did actually take two objects - the horn and a very small crystal/gem thing. But there was no clue to tell them they needed the shield...
