I edited the humbug dialogue on nero wave editor.
It now says:
Anthony: Humbugs, I want the humbugs!
Lillith: HUMMMMMBUGS?
You offer me Hummmmmmbugs? An empty jar? How dare you insult me!! I have no time for- hummmmbugs, so Crummmmbugs, down!!!platform falls and lillith cackles!

This bit of footage is just screaming out for a massive remix.
See the E-sure remix (http://www.funfreepages.com/videos/e-sure_remix.php) and Cillit Bang remix (http://www.funfreepages.com/flash/cillit_bang_remix.php) for examples of what I'm on about.

funny that- I am a music producer and love sound editing!!!!

The edited version sounds great!
I actually sound-edited some samples from the game I did.

I like Series 2, but would like it even more if not for its arbitrary unfairness when it comes to Level 1 clue objects. In this matter, S2 teams appear to fall into 3 categories:
A. Teams that only need one clue object to complete Level 1, e.g. Julian's and Tony's.
B. Teams that need two correct clue objects to complete Level 1, e.g. Martin's (failed through lack of Ground Toad's Legs), Jamie's (Humbugs for Troll, Small Change to create wellway).
C. In between A and B, teams that need two clue objects to complete L1 and can get away with a 'wrong' one, e.g. Neil's (needed dagger & bone; got away with dagger & potion).
Added to this are differing degrees of difficulty at the clue tables. Martin's two truths earned him no clue object tips whatsoever. Neil's team got advice in exchange for a single correct answer ('the weapon is useful'), and given their later bone/potion let-off, that advice was enough to get them to L2. Of Steven's L1 objects, one was a weapon and the other two quickly turned out to be linked (the invisibility talisman + the glove needed to turn it off).
The relevance of all that to this episode is that while Anthony's team tends to be regarded as Category B (failed through lack of potion), I would speculate that they were in fact Category C. They could have got Olaf to accept the jar (after all, he was content with a candle in S3, and elated with an egg-timer elsewhere in S2), and then used the gold to pay what Lillith described as the "toll" for using her causeway. Although she mentioned a potion, I'd suggest that Mary Miller was told to do so, so that Treguard could explain their potion/poison mistake in his post-mortem.

I thought it was absolutely hilarious and pretty darn stupid to take an empty jar of humbugs. The dungeoneer and his team mates did seem pretty gameless though. I would have liked an ooh nasty there would have benn justa s nice with Akash's death which was funny enough but even funnier with treguards ooh nasty
-
It's a minor first, this, but I think this was the first death-by-falling that saw a proper 'falling' effect i.e. the image of the dungeoneer drops off the bottom edge of the screen, rather than the whole screen pseudo-sliding downwards to be replaced by an image of the life force clock. That was a breakthrough of sorts, as it was an effect that was to be used an awful lot in future, especially in Season Three.
-
Did they know it was empty? Surely they saw the prev. quest and thought it was another jar of "humming bugs" to repel an opponent.
Even in 1988 I knew she was saying "humm-bugs" using the same tone of voice with which bad actresses say "A Haanndd-bag!" I liked that, even as I braced myself for a possible bee-sting death!
-
The dungeoneer messed up quite badly. How on earth did he think the empty jar was called humbugs?! Good to see the dungeoneer falling down from the causeway. I guess the graphics team managed to fix that as previous times Lillith took away the causeway, the dungeoneer was static and you didn't see him fall.
Loved the troll's poem!! Apart from that it was a quiet episode.

I thought that this was a great episode!
I loved the appearance of Ariadne in a place other than her traditional lair - it made me jump! The introduction of the Amulet of Invisibility was a clever idea that added a lot to the game play.
However, I will most remember this episode for the laugh out loud death! It was great to see the falling effect but somehow it was also very comical! The whole thing was topped off with Treguard's brilliant, "Well if you can't read labels, you can't be expected to read the writing on the wall! "
-
I think this is the first episode of which I have no strong memories. The spider ledge possibly, though it was used in other eps.
There's a rather 'morning after' feel about this episode - after the winning quest things now seem like an anti-climax. In a world of speculation where the producers engineered Julian's win, one would have to say it was a mistake as it upsets the pacing of the series.
A fun game I've started playing is to close my eyes just before a new room appears and try to imagine what the dungeoneer would see in their imagination. The descriptions of rooms are generally completely awful (e.g neglecting to mention a pit full of worms)! Watching the quest on TV must have been a total revelation to the kids who actually entered the dungeon...

How on earth did he think the empty jar was called humbugs?!
Because it was labelled "humbugs". It was empty, but that's what the label had. I'm intrigued by the potion named "potion" though - which they misread as "poison" - it's not the sort of thing I'd choose to give Lillith!
I've been waiting for the "I'm a troll" poem/song all series: it's one of the original soundbytes that Johnny put on The Home Page of Knightmare. I was almost beginning to think I'd invented it!

Is it just me, or did Igneous have a drop of water on his 'nose' at the beginning?
I noticed it too. I think it was a tiny tear in the, er, brickwork.
Challenge cut off to the ad break in the middle of Treguard saying farewell to the team!
Interesting. I always assumed that Challenge's advert breaks in these showings were the same as they'd always been. This time around, the break came as Treguard was sending forth the new dungeoneer.
This is the episode that begat the misconception that the term for a jester's sceptre is folderol. According to every dictionary I've checked, it isn't. A folderol is a silly trinket or the refrain to a song (as illustrated by the Troll later in this episode).
The spider on the ledge isn't identified by Treguard as Ariadne, so in my opinion it's a different one. Ariadne was "Queen of the Arachnids" and it can't have just her and the scorpion making up the queendom! Also, I like the idea that Ariadne never ventured above Level 2 until Lord Fear arranged it.
In the clue room, when Steven/Stephen was told, "Feel round", I wonder if he was tempted to reply, "Well yes I do, but we did have a massive lunch."

Oh, I saw that and assumed it was a breathing hole in the mask.

I have noticed throughout this run that the ad breaks are in different places from last time.
