maybe i'm posting in the wrong area, but I thought I'd let you all know what I've been upto since my knightmare game and remix...

First of all, i'd like to say thanks to Illusion for support in putting the remix and the game links on the site

I was going to but I couldn't find a pure enough 'ooh nasty' sample without all the background noise!!

I did try, but with the footage I had, there was no clean 'ooh nasty' without the dungeoneers mumbling in the background and the noise that created their death!

oh- sly IS useful as he gives you the password when the pooka attacks him!

And there is different paths for each quest- level 3 has lots of quest-sensitive paths- but the rest merge to give an adventurey feel to the game. I think there was at least 75 slides/levels in all and the game creator was running slow when it came to saving and running it- Knightmare was one big file!

oh- and I gave up on the ariadne idea- that would have been way too hard to animate- a giant spider!!!

I had the music and everything!!!!

And the hammer gives a different (more fun) ending once you get past the troll so that's more variety!

oh, and the deaf-idea- I would be here for weeks trying to subtitle it and the sounds add realism!

The eyesheild piece of black card looked authentic didn't it? It's not as it I take a cloth-covered ex-door to my local forest but it looked good!!!

oh, and play your cards right is on only one of the quests and I can't remember which!

Has anyone played in the dark, helmet-on-head (or equivilent) guided by their friends yet?

Rite, to get to Elita, in the floating skull glade with the table, there's an invisible division which decides which side of the room leads to where- one leads to the tavern, one leads to Elita- there's not much difference in the outcome, but it adds variety!

Did you like the troll-hammer ending? Took ages to do!

To put it bluntly, the game was bad. It was a great idea, but i suffered severe problems, due to a damaged sound card.

Try making something better then!!! I put a lot of my free hours into that creation and if your soundcard actually worked, you may have seen it differently- Knightmare was alot to do with sound and without that, it would be boring!

Anyway, there was text boxes in the game for the key points like questions and introducing new objects and enemies.

Its not as if I could translate all of what the characters say into text boxes- that would take long and may give vital clues away like when HANDS give you the password to level 2!!!

(if you don't hang around long enough- bam! you missed it!)

...one wonders if one thinks about how much work these things take...

After the troll swinging bit, you are basically there!

There's a nice animation of the troll hammer scene and the baddies crushed in Lord Fears chambers!

You then win the quest and Hordriss gives you the FrightKnight trophy!

Pick the shield and it's the easy way out!

The troll swinging is just a nice hard bit to make it challenging to complete but like everything on the game- it's all about timing!!!!

I did hear some music that exactly resembles that pad sequence used in series6+ just before the main theme kicks in!

CLick the mouse button to put the spyglass down!!!

Anyway, in response to the comments above- how the do you create a decent sidestep animation??!

I gave up and that was what I was left with!

Also, the CoB was hard to create- it's all an illusion and not a 3d piece at all!

Oh, and the controlling errors like freezing and looping are TGF programming errors and not my clumsy faults!!!

It should work on XP but someone said there's an error in one of the quests but try it and see- no harm to your PC!

TGF is an updated version of KnP!!!!

It does more things but the concept is very much the same!

I think I did well on the game- it took me long enough!

If you're going to do a project like mine, you need to be very focused and devoted to it as it takes lots of time!

Pooka Invaders...

You could have loads of enemies-

pookas, geists, skulls, etc

And as backdrop, you could use knightmare-esque rooms!

There's still things wrong with it though and when I get round to it, I'll update it and re-release it via turaga's site.

you do have to move the dungeoneer- otherwise the floor will slide in.

Also, a goblin makes his way across and if you don't click the right card, the goblin will make his way towards you and you have to click the right one to make the goblin fall!

...when you see a large spider, you think it's ariadne and make sure it doesn't see you, rather than giving it a mighty good splat with your fist!

How many dungeoneers does it take to complete the game?

too f***ing many!!!

(I keep getting bored of seeing early failures- let's see some new rooms!!)

I prefer playing it on my synthesizers with a tacky slow-rock rhythm speeded up a bit!
