I had cause to go back through an archive recently for somebody else and it has since occurred to me I may still have the fiction that was published on NKTP, which looking at the list posted was mine, Andrew Buckley's and a handful of Pooka/Ben Maydon files, though I notice Ben's stuff seems to have been repackaged and republished on his own website.

As I'm not in contact with Andrew Buckley and haven't been since, well since NKTP was a thing I think as his work was published primarily (but not exclusively) on/for my site, I can make the call on his behalf to repackage that content rather than have everybody suffering looking at broken web pages through the Wayback Machine. As Mr Buckley was the original author he'll retain the copyright obviously and dibs on whether he wants them on show or not.

Hello to the three of four people still here who know who I am.

As you may be aware there were a few Knightmare games on some old medium called Teletext, which was all the rage in the 1980s and 1990s, sort of like retro one-way internet if you like.

Anyway all your old TV recordings harbour a secret - Oracle/Teletext and Ceefax. Because this was transmitted as part of the picture your video will have recorded this without you even knowing about it. If you watch an old TV recording on a teletext capable TV (via coaxial cable or SCART, not HDMI) and press the text button, you may (TV permitting) be able to see a jumble of data depending on the quality of the recording, the original TV signal and what state the tape/video player is now in.

Recent advances in computer power, technology and software now make it possible to recover this data and rebuild the bulk of the pages, even from standard play VHS tapes. Not 100% perfect but its usable and you get the idea.

This is simply nothing more than a page dump if you like - just click a page to open it. The Hex pages (with a letter in the page numbers - 10A for example and 1FF) have the fragments of this particular game. The running order of how this was supposed to flow I don't know, but it started on page 459 and temporarily replaced the Bamboozle game. There was obviously more than one game - page 458 suggests a new game was going to replace this one.

I should have said in my previous post that I may only be able to do the Saturday. That's what you get for writing on forums after bedtime.

Therefore Alton Towers and Thorpe Park isn't going to happen because as much as I would love to simply drop everything and go tootling around the country with you all, a little thing called "work" gets in the way, and unfortunately it's kind of essential if I want to be able to fund this escapade.

Accommodation wise I would therefore only need one night (Saturday night) as I don't plan on driving back home after 11pm in a tired state because those motorways are dangerous if you fall asleep while driving along them, plus I've been bought up to be more sensible than that.

I seriously want to say "Yes" here and now. Work may have other ideas. We shall see. I'll know tomorrow or Tuesday.

I've been seriously thinking about this since I first saw the thread but I thought I'd wait and see not on the basis of who's going but how much interest there would be. I seem to have a want to jump on every social bandwagon going at the moment. Which worries me slightly but it probably means I have to get out more even if it is on the other side of the country to a farm in the middle of nowhere.

What about accommodation for the Saturday night? According to the site this event finishes at 11pm. Which is, like, late.

Due to the distance involved (for me anyway, best part of a six hour tootle up the motorway, a journey of nearly 250 miles (which includes diversions, getting lost and getting lost some more)) I would have to suggest a weekend of some sort, to make it worthwhile. I'm not prepared to go all that way, to say hey to some people, hopefully talk a lot more than I did at Blackpool and have the entire "bit in Edinburgh" portion over with in less than 12hrs. No, I'd rather make it worth my while and hopefully get two, maybe three days out of it.

I rember coming home from school and flicking between CBBC and CITV. I looked through both channels recently at around the 'Kids coming home from school' hour and found no mention of CITV. Just did some research and it seems no more kids shows are shown of channel 3 around this time. Why is this?

It makes them no money. In fact ITV wants to drop everything that goes along with ITV - no CITV, no regional commitments, no paying a fortune to the treasury for the spectrum, no public service broadcasting...

CBBC on BBC One may be a thing of the past as well at some point. CITV on ITV was a matter of time before it was dropped as the budget fell away. Strange as it may seem, Alan Titchmarsh gets better ratings.

And anyway CITV on ITV1 still continues - for about two weeks around Christmas time. Set the alarm for 5am. Or alternatively the CITV channel.

Since it mentions briefly that CITV came out of vision in 2004, it might be worth mentioning just for the sake of completeness alone that CITV moved to Manchester from Birmingham in 2005, breaking 22 years of tradition.

CITV Programming on ITV1 has been totally scrapped as of late 2006 save for 50mins a day of programming that goes out at some ungodly hour of 5:10am around the Christmas period.

Scrapped on the main channel soon after the launch of the CITV channel in March 2006, ITV closed Granada Kids in Leeds in 2006, meaning no more children's productions will be made by ITV for CITV. The CITV channel is the source of constant speculation that it will be closed by the end of the year.

Debbie King, one of the presenters of the popular QuizMania strand on ITV Play, announced on-air tonight (in response to an email) that she used to love Knightmare and even managed to secure an audition at some point. She was born in 1977 according to the Wiki so by my reckoning, any auditions would have been for Season 4 or later. AFAIK she didn't actually get on the programme.

For those of you not in on this piece of terminology...

Granada have already made a killing by selling broadcast rights to Challenge. SO… they would be shooting themselves in the foot if they released the DVD. After all, who’s going to watch the Challenge reruns, if they already own the DVD?

Be that as it may, it hasn't stopped other TV shows being released on DVD and later/before being sold to a TV Channel.

The Simpsons is repeated Ad Naseum on Sky One and Channel 4 and all over the world but it hasn't stopped 20th Century Fox releasing it on DVD around the world.

The bootleg DVDs aren’t hampering an official DVD release, it’s Granada.

Its this sort of response that generates all the commotion. This "I will buy a bootleg DVD because Granada haven't made an official one" attitude. Perhaps instead of buying on eBay, it would be more prudent to report it to eBay and fire off another letter of support to Granada?

I archive shows (much to the annoyance of my girlfriend) as a hobby. I enjoy archiving shows that I feel will never see an official release. Cystal Maze, Fort Boyard, Gamesmaster, Bad Influence, Frank Skinner etc.

There is a world of difference between archiving shows for your own personal use (an act which is also technically illegal because it's an unenforced criminal offence of copyright infringement to tape stuff off the telly) and flogging said copies on eBay.

The only reason Knightmare is up for sale is because I know people still watch it.

And I also happen to know that if you put your head in a vice it'll hurt. But I don't go making money out of it on eBay.

But I refuse to sit in front of my computer burning discs for everyone for free. I pay for Sky subscription, and so can other viewers. But if you want the episodes neatly presently, and edited, then you can pay for it.

Maybe you should refuse to sell the the discs in the first place. Then you wouldn't need to come on here and get shouted at every five minutes for your actions.

I've had the pleasure of watching Raven and yes I've also noticed its built along the same premise as Knightmare was.

It seems to be You Bet meets Knightmare meets Fort Boyard in some regards. The Knightmare influence is pretty clear (guy with silly beard is in charge watching over physically fit brats making a pigs ear of something). Fort Boyard's presence is in tight time limits and seemingly impossible challenes, and You Bet for, well, are they going to do it basically.

Assuming Keith's script is something that you drop in the root of the web server, then it would be possible to make another file which you drop in another folder and anything in there one can hot-link from (for example if you want to remote host something from your own site for display on a forum).

But having said that, its still very inconsiderate to hot-link in the first place when its not your site.. It's really not a lot of effort to download the picture you want and put it somewhere else, in eBay's case you can actually upload your picture to their server.

This method, IIRC, can be tweaked to allow remote-loading only from certain domains.

My previous project I caught images being loaded from my server for display onto a web forum. I think somebody had tacked it onto their signature so I had a few thousand hits listed in the web stat logs from this one web server all linking to the same image. They'd have got away with it as well if I hadn't checked the web stats on occasion.

Well if you could see how much I actually paid for the hosting for Knightmare Post, you'd be surprised that it's actually available at all.
