I've just seen a topic about this on the SFX forum...but no-one is taking it seriously. I think he'll stay for longer than 3 years in the role myself...well, hopefully he will cos I think he's right up there with Tom Baker as one of the best Doctors

Interestingly, though, I read an article about female World of Warcraft players.

Being a fantasy RPG, you wouldn't expect girls to play it (according to the stereotypes), but many get introduced by watching a friend play and then get hooked into it. Particularly due to the social aspect.

I believe The Sims is also well known for it.

Heh, you could be describing my niece there - her online boyfriend got her into it using the free trial, she got so hooked from that she ended up buying the game card or whatever it is. I'd probably get addicted to it too if I could afford to pay it every month (I can't).

As far as the comic strip companions go, the most recent one - Majenta Pryce - is one of my favourites. I also like Izzy, Kroton and Destrii

I can't really contribute much to this topic as the only Sixth Doctor story I've seen is "Revelation Of The Daleks" which I own as part of the Davros DVD boxset - it's a great story and I've heard it being described as the best TV Who story Colin did. I really need to buy a couple of his Big Finish stories this year, but I'm also wanting to see "Vengeance On Varos" and "Attack Of The Cybermen" (partly to witness just how violent they were!)

Maybe it's because they look more like real skulls, with their empty eye sockets and "mouth".

I was watching James' quest yesterday, the poor lad didn't have much chance of surviving that chamber with TWO of the nasties chasing him!

I've been watching a few episodes of Series 3 on Youtube (Leo's quest, specifically) and every time a skull ghost appeared (once on each level), I got a shudder down my spine. I think it's something to do with the appearance of the skull combined with the ominous sound it makes, I've decided that those early ones are the scariest of all the floating threats. There's just something so...dangerous about them, you feel they'd sap a LOT more life force from you than the later skulls/pookas.

My all-time favourite companion is Sarah-Jane - probably because she didn't have to rely on the Doctor all the time, she was feisty and quite brave. And she still is today

Now we have our own Doctor Who subforum (thanks, Mystara!), we can have a topic about the Christmas/New Year special.

I've managed to avoid spoilers from the press screening of the episode which was shown a few days ago, the only things I know are what I've gleaned in Doctor Who Magazine and the trailers. The journos aren't going to see the second part, but I still would rather be surprised by what happens in the first part too.

Anyway, I'm hoping that Gallifrey will come back and that Timothy Dalton's character will turn out to be Omega.

I'd love it if Gallifrey comes back permanently...and I can't see what else the Ood would mean by "it is returning", so I'll be disappointed if it doesn't.

There are rumours that Timothy Dalton's character "The Narrator" is Omega, especially since that photo of him dressed up in Omega's robes from "Arc Of Infinity" appeared on the web - I wouldn't be too surprised if that were true

I'm sure I heard the wolf sound effect being used in the Who story "Survival" when the Cheetah People howled (I watched the DVD the other week).

Does anyone else hear sound effects that were used in Knightmare being used in other TV programmes? Over the years, I've heard a sound clip of crows cawing (with a robin chirping soon after) being used a LOT and I immediately pick it up. In KM, it was often played when a dungeoneer entered a courtyard, or some other outside location. One of the other programmes I've heard that sound effect used in is Keeping Up Appearances!
