Edit: I've since concluded that he more likely said, "sacra templa poeta taberna quaerabat", which can be very loosely translated as: the priest seeks the temple, the poet seeks the pub. Hence Brother Mace's subsequent remark that a poet would like the joke, but a priest would consider it lousy. Apologies if you already knew this, but I only just discovered that Brother Mace's "joke" is actually taken from a Latin textbook, where it's an example of a sentence that omits a repeated word. It's supposed to be "Sacerdos templum, poeta tabernam quaerebat", so he mangles it a bit!

I think it was the penultimate team because the final team didn't encounter all of the Vale of Vanburn. (I wonder if it was cut to make time.) Martin's team were the penultimate one, and they met an imprisoned Velda in that room, whom they set free with a key from the clue room. No spidey. The final team were, as I recall it, the only team to go through the cave in the middle of the VoV; they were being chased by goblins from both behind and in front of them. After hints from Treguard they took that exit, went through the corridor of the catacombs, and emerged back at the 'waterfall' end of the VoV, where Hordriss chased off the goblins with a magic sword.

I didn't find this thread when I first joined the forum and seeing as it's now 5 years old perhaps this is a little late, but thanks for all your great comments about my humble fanzine! The "fan's point of view" thing is very important to me - I always write from the heart!

Indeed, updates were always on Sunday night for Monday. Sometimes I do wonder how I had all the time to do it back then!

There's nothing explicit on this thread, and it's explicit material/references that the rules forbid. Just saying you fancy someone isn't really in that bracket.

The 1-3 neutral Treguard was a lot more fun, he took a sadistic delight almost in the teams failure, only advising as much as was needed rather than doing EVERYTHING. 'Oh look master it's a blocker' episode after episode got very tiring with Pickle's inane banter and with Majida it was overadvised and she tended to get annoying, no offence to Majida fans. Neutral also gave some top class lines and didn't help quite as much, he felt more like the 'Dungeon Master' than a leader of good.

I was amused to see that in the clue room, when Oliver says "You're in a room", Alan appears to mouth along I probably said it and my microphone was off. We had to nominate a describer (Oliver) and a main guider (me). I assume that our microphones were adjusted in anticipation of these roles and therefore mine was off at the room description stage. As you'll appreciate, this didn't even last one room and within two or three rooms it became a free for all. Alan, I like to imagine you were thinking: Don't say it, don't say it... sigh he's saying it. Or have I got it all wrong? It's a funny thing the phrase "you're in a room". At the time I don't remember it being as iconic as "Where am I?", which I vaguely seem to recall (although I may be misremembering) Dunstan was supposed to say. I think "You're in a room" is just the natural response. Perhaps that's why it's become so well known. It's meaningless, non-forced, and yet a perfectly likely thing for someone to say in that situation. So no, I'm pretty sure I wasn't thinking that at the time

Team 2 certainly couldn't be accused of any lack of enthusiasm. Their excitement over-ran somewhat at times and they didn't listen to Treguard's suggestions. Can't believe that the editors removed some, but not all, of the shouts of: "Oh my G_d!" from advisor Gideon during the fireball room. That woz rather naughty.... They tried to bargain with Stiletta before even introducing Daniel. Encountered Brother Strange, who evidently needs to keep collecting proverbs coz he keeps forgetting the ones he already had. Used their "FLOAT" spell in the trapdoor to level 2. First appearance of Snapper-Jack and they did well. Not sure about this character yet. Level 2 clue-room and we had the first sighting of Maldame, another would-be ally of LF.

Would have to be Treguard for me. It's his accent. Sighs
