    Hi People

    Calling all 80s geeks...

Any masters of the universe fans, heres a great fan made game.

Its free, streets or rage style game, with beautiful background art and theme of 80s cartoon.

Not strictly Knightmare related, but hope gives somebody a smile in these weird times.

    Take care people

    Hi People

Quite possibly covered in the forum already- with rise of escape room experiences, can see a trend

in escape room board games. This one particularly looks knightmare inspired and thought would appeal

-On the whole really positive, my only beef was parts of the opening section. The graphics of Treguard's crib, back story, camera angle, too long, everything was awkward there...Probably like one of my posts

-The Team has divided opinion, I thought they were completely fine + respectful. They would generate a lot more traffic and interest than any a team made up of forum members, maximising chances of success.

-Personally if anything would want to see something inspired by Knightmare return, rather than a continuation of Knightmare. Still says volumes for how highly its regarded that after all these years a stand alone episode was made.

  • Knightmare Geek Week Extended Episode

    Knightmare in Geek Week

Its the opening camera angle, graphics and dialogue which doesn't work for me, up until around 2.15 which works much better from there. Would cut that out all together. From there the way it flicks between the Team and Treguard and Isy in close up works well. Isy squeezing past the bench again little awkward and think that just needed to be a bit more punchy and straight into game.

Slightly weak start but again I think the rest is great

Yep the extended version works much better, like the wall monster (some colour in the eyes would of been good) and the causeway room. A floating head Dave Cameron/Ed Milliband/Kim Kardisian or just traditional skull would of been good.

The opening scene, there were some good ideas there, the revive spell, Isy being stiched up into an internship to 'clean up dungeon', but its execution is woodern and awkward. Written at the last hour + original art work for antechamber couldn't be used, so can't be too hard there. Maybe cutting to Treguard snoring, and a quicker start into the game would of worked.

Having you Tubers was important to generate interest, and they seemed to be respectful. Still a victory, on the whole thought it was very good.

  • Knightmare Live @ The Lowry

    Knightmare Live

Went to Knightmare Live @ Lyric last night.

It was great, good balance between affection for the show, and irreverent humour/awareness 20 years is a long time ago. There was a surreal and beautiful sub plot where Treaguard is involved in a 90's love triangle with Michaela Strachan from the really wild show, and his nemesis Neil Buchanan from Art Attack. There was also some disturbing sexual confusion between Pickle and Treagard The 3 lead actors very strong.

The dragon scene and clockwork grim reaper were the best iconic bits of Knightmare, along with the original sound effects.

Looking round the auidience, would say age range was late 20s to early 40s, felt like a strange school reunion assembly, but a nice atmosphere.

There was a big twist at the London show, will leave that to anyone doing a proper review.

  • Call for Knightmare to return

    Reminds me of Knightmare

I think Hugo and Mark reprising their roles 25 years on, streamed on a remote corner of the internet, would be a sad parody of Knightmare's hay day, when Millions of Kids tuned in. Something influenced by Knightmare, but clearly set apart and new from the original would be safest.

Anyways the David Rowe book on the way, convention, challenge tv repeats, geek week and Knightmare live rolling until Nov, a noble victory at sea for this website and a great achievement.

  • Dark Season/Century Falls
    S stockholmsyndrome
    Off-Topic

Dark Season was creepy with an edge, Century Falls was mind bending terror, building tensions and atmosphere, alluding to evil unseen. An urban myth is that it was banned from Kids T.V, although have found nothing to back this up...didn't help that Animals of Fathing wood was shown before, a pretty morbid cartoon although not scary in itself.

Watched Century Falls dvd again, holds up very well, mind bending terror ermm is too strong, but its still dark and unsettling in places, does create a great atmosphere. Dark Season all up on You Tube, the shell suits and box computers not aged so well, but still cool. Both written by Russell T Davies

Sorry if already posted elsewhere. Basically an intra-view with Tim Child @ Adventure X in Dec 2013. Includes some of the Geek week episode. Worth listening to for the opening music, not sure if that was used in original scenes or somebody playing around with the riff, some quality gothic keyboard there...

Goodluck with this people, I will be def be sending some dollarz in support. Friends are getting Married that weekend plus for me never go back/meet your heros etc, so won't be there but hope it happens and look forward to seeing how it went.

In the worst case scenario and you don't raise the needed amount, could you not find a no thrills venue? Anywhere with enough capacity, the right presentation and not least the creators and cast would still be enough of a pull for many. U might loose the chance to 'play a room', but could still have a great event elsewhere? a plan b. Anyways all the best.

Yep agree there Wombstar, one of the beauties of the show was it appealed and provided escapism to kids from all backgrounds. Intelligent + perceptive kids can be from any background.

I feel where there is less opportunity for Knightmare or a show like it now to suceed, is that immersive computer games like Warcraft/Runescape/Diablo/many others can now provide that escapism. There wasn't too much in the way of competition back then. The adventures of Zelda and Gaunlett perhaps, but still a world away from what games can create now

ok thanks, well I agree on the Yorkshire bit, a great accent

I think overall including myself any fans of anything, can get a bit precious about how they think things should be. Taken to extremes you get Misery by Stephen King, where an obsessed fan kidnaps their favourite author and forces them write more novels about their favourite character, but only in a way that sits in with their idealised vision. Maybe Tim Child feels the same way >:-]

Grandizzy, I would respectfully challenge two points you made, a} the cast looked completely unsinister to me, if I met them down an alley late at night I wouldn't be too worried. b) and adventure and escapism should be for kids of any background. I think your point is prebably unsinister meaning just that middle class kids somehow are less assertive/confident, making the threat of the dungeon seem more real in comparison. Anyway a can of worms to be left alone but I wanted to challenge. Peace

  • When Did Knightmare "Jump The Shark" For You?
    S stockholmsyndrome
    General Discussion

The out door backdrops were hit and miss, some of the shots worked well and they created an ambient feel, others looked like bland English Heritage post cards on acid.

The show had a very good innings, 7 or 8 years is a mini eternity when your a kid, there were natural highs and lows, my interest levels varied, but with each series having something to offer.

On the whole a very positive reaction to geek week episode. In the build up Tim Child stated something along the lines of 'a monster is getting out of the box, this will either be the start of a new generation of Knightmare, or the last'. Is it unfair to ask what people think the likely answer is?

The heart is saying yes, and partly head is saying in a post potter/lord or rings world it could do very very well given its popularity first time round. The other part of the head is saying it won't come together, and all our dreams will be crushed by the suits who make these decisions.

Haha same here on the old commador, expecting low-fi adventure but couldn't get out of the second room Could of enlisted the help of games master aka Patrick Moore I suppose...

    You're kidding

Give the old man the food and the water (you start off with these already in your inventory), and then ask the old man. He'll drop a spade, so pick it up and go to the second room, then dig by the door.

Hey thanks for this, it was a long, long road to the second room obviously Made more amusing/frustrating by the Treguard head popping up basically calling you a loser "This action is fruitless" etc.

I will stay well away from that game, and still convinced its a truman show style conspiracy, there is no 3rd room

I respect this is a Knightmare site, but much like the references to robot wars and crystal maze here...Does anyone remember these? Dark Season 'edgey teen drama' of something creepy going down in the suburbs casting Kate Winslet. Also Century Falls which was very dark for Children's T.V. both Written by Russell T Davies (I think). Century Falls was about a secreative cult in an isolated Nothern village. Saw them as stable mates to Knightmare in the early 90s. Dark Season was excellent, alongside Knightmare one of the best shows from those times. Dark Season is on you tube.
